First
aid is the immediate care, which is given to a person
following an injury or sudden serious illness prior to
proper medical aid. It is vital as it makes the difference
between life & death. The aim of first aid is to save
life, prevent worsening and promote fast recovery. But
the rescuer's safety is of first importance. To make a
home first aid kit is important. It should also be available
in the car, during travel, in office etc.
The first aid kit should be an airtight container that
should be stored in a dry place. This place should be
easily accessible in an emergency. But it should be out
of reach of children. One should do a regular check of
the kit so that outdated medicines are replaced and metal
instruments are properly maintained. It should include:
| |
Antiseptic
lotion, ointment or cream. Betadine / soframycin |
| |
